Much like the Moai of Easter Island, the true origin and purpose of FatBird have never been fully revealed. The most widely accepted theory is that he is an ancient interstellar shapeshifter who, through his travels, became stranded on Earth.

As if being separated from his species and crash landing weren’t sufficient souvenirs, his presence on our planet “short circuited” his morphing ability. Why he was destined to permanently take the form of a squat, flightless, fowl instead of Voltron… no one knows. Not that you’d hear him complaining!

In addition to his obvious penchant for priceless comedy and his signature speechless acting technique (as demonstrated in HtBaD), FB also enjoys philosophizing, staring contests, travel, modeling, cutting the occasional rug, and nesting in various locations around the world.

Although he enjoys interacting with humanity, exactly how FatBird communicates has always been a mystery. It has been speculated that he either employs a method that is completely foreign and incomprehensible by human standards, or… he simply prefers to remain silent. The intricate nature of his complex genetic makeup dictates that he seek out a like-spirited individual (a bird of a feather, if you will) with whom to spend his time. His constant companion on his Earth journey is the goofy Earthling Jolene Kay, who is good at many things but mostly being goofy and being an Earthling.

Goals in FatBird’s immediate future include planning the sequel for How to Be a Director with Daniel F. Scherl and Jolene, constructing an actual hyperplasmic tetryon displacement modulator, and learning to smile.
